Recent action sees Jets, MJDP, Jets Elite all bring home hard-fought victories

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – It was a packed two weeks all about the wins for the three Metro Jets teams.

The Metro Jets earned three victories, the MJDP won two games, and the Metro Jets Elite grabbed a trio of victories.

The Jets blanked the Cincinnati Jr. Cyclones 9-0 Saturday night at the Queen City Sportsplex as Austin Muirhead stopped all 24 shots fired his way for the shutout.

AJ Zaccagni scored twice and added an assist, while Jack Noonan, Sutton Majeske, Gabe Outman, Tim Monaghan and Harry Dembowski all chipped in a goal and an assist.

Miran Janezic and Alek John also scored, Jake Taylor contributed three assists, and Jaxon Stone put up two helpers.

For Cincinnati, Caleb Whitson and Nick Wah combined on a 68-save effort in goal.

On Sunday, the Jets scored seven unanswered goals in a 7-1 win at Mount Clemens Ice Arena over the Chicago Cougars.

Evan Cote scored two goals, including a penalty shot, and John, Taylor, and Luka Pivec all had a goal and an assist. Zaccagni and Pierce Ashcroft scored one apiece and Noonan and captain Jack Rivera posted two assists each.

In goal, Rostislav Efremov made 22 saves.

Alexander Musyakevych netted Chicago’s lone goal and Nick Gingold finished with 33 saves.

This past Friday, the Jets downed the Fresh Coast Freeze 13-0 at Griff’s Ice House West in Holland, Mich.

Zaccagni went for three goals and an assist, Majeske added a hat trick of his own, and Taylor had four assists as Andrew Parmentier and Shawn Bromley combined on a 17-save shutout in goal.

Outman chipped in two goals and an assist, Ashcroft and Pivec a goal and two assists each, and Janezic and Cote had a goal and an assist apiece. Dembowski also scored and Donovan Ascensio, Joseph Martin, John, Noonan, Monaghan and River Lewis each collected two assists.

Freeze goalie John Cordova made 55 saves.

Last Wednesday, the MJDP defeated the Motor City Gamblers 4-2 at Big Boy Arena in Fraser, Mich.

Brandon Consolo recorded a goal and an assist and Avery Byron chipped in two assists to back Brendan Dreisbach’s 16-save effort in goal.

Raphael Belley-Pelletier, Chris Otero and Chris Kobayashi also scored in the win.

Braeden Goers and Kohen Dixson scored for Motor City and goalie Luka Straser finished with 42 saves.

Monday, Chicago goalie Cameron Boville stopped all 31 shots he faced as the Cougars beat the MJDP 4-0.

Ethan Carlone finished with 28 saves in goal for the MJDP.

Alic Schuster and Musyakevych each had a goal and an assist, while William Tornello and Brett Tumbrink potted one goal apiece.

Thursday afternoon, the MJDP used five different goal scorers – Gianni Brisson, McKenna Baker, Consolo, Raphael Belley-Pelletier and Chris Otero – in a 5-2 win at home over the Battle Creek Kernels.

Evan Peacock recorded the win in goal with a 21-save performance.

For the Kernels, Colton Place and Nate Fricke scored and goalie Lennart Critzmann made 49 stops.

Wrapping up Sunday, Matt Hopersberger scored and Dreisbach and Carlone combined on 34 saves as the MJDP fell on the road to the Fort Wayne Spacemen at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Fort Wayne goalie Herman Zippeldt made 21 saves.

The Jets Elite took both games at home from the Cougars, winning 4-1 Sunday and 5-2 on Monday.

In the opener Sunday, Justin Ward scored two goals and Daniell Luska and Jarrett LaGrow one apiece.

Johnny Tackett registered two assists and goalie Cameron Cyrus stopped 29 shots.

Kyle LaMantia broke Cyrus’ shutout bid at 13:48 of the third period and Nate Maurin made 27 saves in goal.

Monday, Owen Coulter had a goal and an assist and Caleb Simpson, Tackett, Cory Anderson and Oliver Budd added single goals to back goaltender Eliot Duerr’s 24 saves.

Jeffrey Schroeder scored both for the Cougars, Caleb Lind assisted on both, and Andrew DiSilvestro finished with 38 saves between the pipes.

Then Thursday, the Jets Elite fell 2-1 in a shootout to Motor City at Big Boy Arena.

Anderson scored the lone Jets goal and Tabor Hatch made 43 stops between the pipes.

Isaac Bunk scored in regulation and added the shootout winner for the Gamblers. Motor City goalie Tyler Houle made 36 saves.

On Sunday, Anderson’s goal with 4:22 proved to be the game-winner as the Jets Elite shut out the Spacemen 1-0 at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.

Cyrus made 37 saves for the win in goal.

Brendan Kusbel finished with 23 saves for Fort Wayne.

This week, the MJDP hosts Motor City Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., the Jets Elite hosts Motor City Thursday at 12:30 p.m., while the Jets play a home-and-home series with the Columbus Mavericks, starting Friday at 7:30 p.m. from the OhioHealth Chiller North and wrapping Saturday at home at 7 p.m.
