MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – The Metro Jets have officially announced an NCDC team for the 2026-27 season.

The NCDC (National Collegiate Development Conference) is the USPHL’s Tier II arm and top level of the league, the most direct route to NCAA hockey, as well as advancement to Tier I hockey in the U.S. and Canada.

“This is an exciting day for our franchise,” said Jets GM Justin Quenneville. “As we continue to operate our successful model and give our players more and more opportunities to develop and gain exposure to higher levels of the game, the NCDC is the logical next step. I’m thrilled we have the ability to make this move and continue to put our abilities towards the players opportunities. This is such a positive move for our organization, which is a full team effort from volunteers, staff, coaches and ownership with Pete Cammick. We truly have a group committed to our model.”

In addition for the 2026-27 season, the Jets will continue to field Jets and MJDP (Metro Jets Development Program) teams at the USPHL Premier level.

“Fielding an NCDC team has been an important goal for the Jets organization from Day 1 of our move to the USPHL,” said Cammick. “The NCDC was one of the most attractive elements of the USPHL and represents the logical progression in the Metro Jets long and successful history.”

Now in their 37th season as a junior hockey franchise and in their fifth season at Mount Clemens Ice Arena, the Jets have advanced hundreds of players on to higher levels of junior hockey, college hockey and professional hockey, including current San Jose Sharks goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic, 2016 Stanley Cup champion Steven Oleksy, and Tampa Bay Lightning and two-time Stanley Cup champion Jon Cooper, who guided the Jets to the 2002 Silver Cup national championship.

The Jets have also won four national championships with the most recent one coming in 2018 while making 10 consecutive national championship tournament appearances and playing in eight national championship games. The Jets have also won 13 division championships between the Jets, MJDP and Jets Elite teams.
