Jets wrap weekend with two points on home ice over Kernels; USPHL Chicago Showcase on tap

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – The Metro Jets played two games over the weekend, falling in Toledo Friday night and rebounding with a win Sunday afternoon at home over the Battle Creek Kernels.

In the win at Mount Clemens Ice Arena, Jets veteran forward Alex Schaumburger scored twice with hn assist, with his first goal moving him atop the Jets’ all-time goal scoring list.

Bryce O’Rourke added two goals and two assists, while Seve Litz, Andreas Fleutot, Tyler Husted and Steven Miller each had a goal and an assist, and Dylan Eliason (pictured) made 21 saves for the shutout in net.

Joey Mocnik added a goal and Alex Bedenko chipped in four assists and Devon Mastay a pair of helpers.

Harber Cassel and Galvin Reagan combined to make 47 saves for the Kernels.

Friday night against the Cherokee at the Team Toledo IceHouse, Fleutot had a goal and two assists and Dakota Kott and Bedenko each collected a goal and an assist in a 6-4 setback.

Schaumburger also scored, Michael Lucia posted two assists, and Freddy Soderberg finished with 26 saves.

“It was a good game for both teams and it came down to them capitalizing on our mistakes and having a bit more energy in the third period,” Jets associate coach Adam Morrison said. “Could have gone either way and we certainly had our chances to score a few more goals.”

This coming weekend, the Jets are off to the USPHL Chicago Showcase before breaking for the holidays.
