MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – In the Metro Jets’ first-ever game against the new Fresh Coast Freeze, the Jets took a decisive 14-1 win Friday afternoon at Mount Clemens Ice Arena.
Joseph Martin went for two goals and three assists, while Luka Pivec, Jaxon Stone and Donovan Ascensio each collected a goal and three assists. Alek John, Pierce Ashcroft, Jake Taylor and Jack Schnur all had two goals with an assist.
AJ Zaccagni also scored and Jack Noonan added three assists. Jack Rivera, Brycen Smith and Evan Cote all posted two assists apiece.
In goal, Andrew Parmentier played the first 40 minutes and made 14 saves, allowing just an Emersen Lippert goal at 8:55 of the first period. Shawn Bromley played the third period and finished with eight saves.
Fresh Coast goalie Brooks Smyrski made 45 saves in the loss.
This coming weekend, the Jets play on the road against the Cincinnati Jr. Cyclones Saturday at 5 p.m. from the Queen City Sportsplex and at home Sunday at 5 p.m. against the Chicago Cougars.
The MJDP team sat idle last weekend, but the Jets Elite team ventured to Decatur, Ill., to play four games in the Decatur Elite Showcase, finishing with a 1-3 mark at the Decatur Civic Center.
Friday night, the Jets beat the Fort Wayne Spacemen 5-2 as Owen Coulter had a goal and an assist and Cory Anderson, Chris Otero, Landon Graham and Justin Ward scored one each. Eliot Duerr made 38 saves in goal.
On Saturday, the Jets opened with a 5-4 setback to the Chicago Crush and then suffered an 8-3 loss to the Decatur Blaze.
Against the Crush, Ronnie Lubbers scored two goals, Tyler Dix and Otero tallied one each, Connor Wheeler added three assists, and Cam Cyrus made 50 saves in goal.
In the Decatur game, Scott Dewar registered a goal and an assist and McKenna Baker and Otero added goals. Tabor Hatch and Cyrus combined for 32 saves.
Wrapping up the showcase Sunday afternoon, the Jets fell 5-4 to the Chicago Cougars.
Matt Hopersberger, Dix, Anderson and Dix scored and Duerr made 28 saves.
Next up, the Jets host the Cougars Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and Monday at 11 a.m.
Also this week, the MJDP plays the Motor City Gamblers Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. from Big Boy Arena in Fraser, Mich.
