HENDERSON, Nev. — This past weekend, the Metro Jets and MJDP teams traveled west for the USPHL Las Vegas Showcase at America First Center, home of the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, the top affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.
The Jets went 1-3 at the event, while the MJDP team also finished 1-3.

“It was tough weekend to say the least and we knew it would be,” said Jets head coach and GM Justin Quenneville. “We always ask to play the best teams and strive to give our players the toughest schedule available. Our inexperience and youth showed this weekend. We outplayed teams and outshot teams 2-1 nearly every game, but if you can’t score, you won’t win.
“This was a good learning experience for our guys and a much-needed break until we head back down south in a couple weeks for another tough showcase. In this game at this level, our players need to learn that every team wants to beat them every night, so they need to be ready for the challenge every shift.”
Next up is the USPHL Tampa Showcase, slated for Jan. 4-6 at AdventHealth Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, Fla., with the Jets and MJDP teams skating in four games each.
