Jets Elite defeats Motor City, Jets gain two wins over Battle Creek, Red River in games over past week

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — The Metro Jets Elite and Metro Jets teams were back on the ice in recent days, picking up three wins in the process.

Last Wednesday, the Jets Elite downed the Motor City Gamblers 6-2 at Big Boy Arena in Fraser.

Tyler Dix scored three goals in the win, while Landon Graham had a goal and two assists and goaltender Tabor Hatch made 27 saves.

Cory Anderson added a goal and an assist and Jarrett LaGrow also scored.

For the Gamblers, Isaac Bunk and Alexei Spence scored and Tyler Houle and Phillip Tate combined to stop 37 shots in goal.

Friday night at The Rink Battle Creek, the Jets defeated the Battle Creek Kernels 7-1.

Evan Cote had two goals and an assist, captain Jack Rivera two goals, and Austin Muirhead made 36 stops in goal.

Pierce Ashcroft, Jack Schnur and River Lewis also scored for the Jets.

Nick Marcella broke Muirhead’s shutout bid at 15:56 of the third period.

Trace Wiles and Joe Weber combined on a 56-save effort between the pipes for the Kernels.

Just two penalties were called during the game, both to Battle Creek.

Back home Saturday night at Mount Clemens Ice Arena, the Jets took a 12-0 win over the Red River Spartans at Mount Clemens Ice Arena.

Andrew Parmentier finished with a 22-save shutout to go along with two goals and three assists from Jake Taylor and two goals each from Cote, Alek John and Luka Pivec.

Brycen Smith added a goal and three assists and Sutton Majeske had three helpers of his own.

Donovan Ascensio and Miran Janezic put up a goal and an assist each, Schnur and Jaxon Stone collected two assists apiece and Harry Dembowski also scored.

Red River goalies Andrew Young and Michael Pelc combined to stop 40 shots.

Next weekend, all three teams are in action as the Jets Elite and MJDP teams play three games on the road in Decatur Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while the Jets host the Fresh Coast Freeze Friday at 5 p.m. and play in Cincinnati against the Jr. Cyclones Sunday at 4 p.m. from the Queen City Sportsplex.

In Decatur at the Decatur Civic Center, the Jets Elite plays Friday at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., while the MJDP plays Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 7:45 p.m. and Sunday at 5:15 p.m. All times Central.
