MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – The Metro Jets and MJDP teams each picked up four points this past weekend by getting two wins apiece.

The Jets swept the Columbus Mavericks in a home-and-home series Friday and Saturday and the MJDP won both games at Mount Clemens Ice Arena from the Chicago Crush Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday night, Lucas Millmine posted a goal and two assists and Max Rastello scored on a penalty shot to back Andrew Parmentier’s 21-save effort in goal as the MJDP took a 5-1 win.

Bennett Sheppard had a goal and an assist and Josh Boze and Alek John added goals in the win.

For the Crush, Spencer Kauke scored and Liam Rice and Kyle Tyszkiewicz combined to make 28 saves in goal.

Then Sunday afternoon, Jack Rivera scored his first two junior hockey goals, including the game winner 47 seconds into overtime, as the MJDP downed Chicago 3-2.

“We had some great puck movement from the guys out there,” said Rivera. “I supported the puck, which the coaches have been talking about, and got a shot through, something else that have been talking about. We’ve been at a little bit of a scoring deficit, but look what happened today. Good things.”

Jacob Lawrence also scored, Rastello collected two assists, and Taylor White finished with 23 saves.

Andrew Young made 35 saves for the Crush, who got goals from Owen Rycerz and Troy Ogarek.

“It’s been tough for these guys to figure out how to play two games in a row,” Jets associate coach Tina Ciraulo said. “Finding the back of the net is a huge thing and we’ve been starting to come around and play like we know how to play. We just have to keep working on playing back-to-back games and figure out how to come out ready for each of those games.”

Kicking off the weekend Friday night at the OhioHealth Chiller North, Robert Vanderdonck and Seve Litz each had a goal and an assist and Freddy Soderberg 25 saves in the Jets’ 4-1 win over the Mavericks.

Michael Lucia and Alex Bedenko also scored and Chad Noetzel recorded a pair of assists.

Piercen Garcia opened the scoring for Columbus before the Jets scored the next four.

In goal for the Mavericks, Brenden Cobb made 55 stops.

Wrapping up the series Saturday afternoon at Mount Clemens, Bedenko went for two goals and three assists and Andreas Fleutot added three goals and an assist in a 12-1 win for the Jets.

Jets captain Josh German put up a goal and four assists, Vanderdonck posted a goal and three helpers, Dakota Kott and Noetzel a goal and two assists apiece, and Bryce O’Rourke chipped in a goal and an assist.

Ugo Lollier and Ethan Hellman added goals, while Rocco Stolz and Karl Ullmann combined to make 25 saves.

Carson Johnston netted the lone Columbus goal and Kyle Diehr turned aside 37 shots between the pipes.

This week, the MJDP plays the Motor City Gamblers Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Big Boy Arena before hosting the Battle Creek Kernels Friday at 8 p.m. and the Fort Wayne Spacemen Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Jets are in Columbus Friday night at 8:45 p.m. and then come home to host the Toledo Cherokee Saturday night at 7:45 p.m.
