Trio of Jets teams earn wins over recent slate of USPHL play

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – Metro Jets teams were in action six of the last seven days, with all three teams earning wins along the way.

Kicking off the action last Wednesday, Brandon Consolo’s hat trick led the MJDP team to a 5-1 win over the Motor City Gamblers at Big Boy Arena in Fraser, Mich.

Alessandro Evangelista added a goal and an assist and Chris Otero also scored to back Evan Peacock’s 28 saves between the pipes.

Kyle Boring scored Motor City’s goal and goalie Galvin Reagan stopped 39 shots.

Then Thursday, the Metro Jets Elite team defeated Motor City 3-1 at Mount Clemens Ice Arena.

Johnny Tackett scored twice and Landon Graham added a goal to go along with 23 saves from goaltender Tabor Hatch.

Callum Krause scored for the Gamblers and Tyler Houle made 42 saves in goal.

Friday night at The Rink Battle Creek, the Metro Jets beat the Battle Creek Kernels 10-1.

Evan Cote and Alek John each posted two goals and an assist and Luka Pivec and Sutton Majeske scored two goals apiece.

Jack Schnur and Matt Brougham added goals and AJ Zaccagni and Pierce Ashcroft each recorded three assists. Miran Janezic and Jake Taylor chipped in two assists each.

In goal, Austin Muirhead finished with 14 saves, allowing just a Luke Tinker goal midway through the first period.

Battle Creek goalies Trace Wiles and Joe Weber combined on 51 saves.

Saturday afternoon, the Jets Elite knocked off the Fort Wayne Spacemen 6-2 at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Jarrett LaGrow scored two goals and Daniell Luska went for a goal and an assist as Hatch finished with 31 saves.

Cory Anderson, Tyler Dix and Graysen LaPrise added goals and Ronnie Lubbers notched two assists.

Tyson Finefrock and Nicolas Chesney scored for Fort Wayne and Brendan Kusbel made 29 saves in goal.

Also in Fort Wayne Saturday, the Spacemen topped the Jets 6-4.

Zaccagni scored twice, Ashcroft had a goal and an assist, and Tim Monaghan also found the net.

John registered two assists and Rostislav Eftemov and Andrew Parmentier stopped 28 shots between the pipes.

For Fort Wayne, Jackson Cothron scored twice with three assists, Thomas Cheeney popped two goals, and Colin Robison and Bogdan Vysotsky scored one each.

Alexis Toussaint collected two assists and goalie Christopher Gingras made 35 saves.

At the OhioHealth Chiller North, the Columbus Mavericks downed the MJDP team 7-1 Saturday night.

Chase Martin accounted for the lone MJDP goal and goaltenders Eliot Duerr and Ethan Carlone made a combined 40 saves.

Dalton Zulka recorded two goals and two assists for Columbus, Giovanni Valentine went for a goal and two assists, Thomas Eggleston tacked on three assists, and Jacob Webb put up two assists.

Reed Hinton, Brady Gedman, Brady Cook and Graham Wood also scored for the Mavericks and goalie Lukas Kamenicky made 33 saves.

Monday saw the Jets Elite down the Chicago Cougars 8-3 as Anderson scored three goals and added three assists and LaGrow popped a goal with three helpers to back Brendan Dreisbach’s 21 saves in goal.

Connor Wheeler added a goal and two assists, Graham had a goal and an assist, and Owen Coulter and Dix each scored.

The Jets scored five power-play goals after coming into the game having scored six all season.

Lubbers and Ryder Tracy tacked on two assists apiece in the win.

For the Cougars, Cameron Twadell scored twice, Jeff Schroeder went for a goal and two assists, and goalie Nate Maurin turned aside 39 shots.

Also Monday, Effemov and Muirhead combined on a 26-save shutout as the Jets blanked the Cougars 4-0 on home ice.

With the shutout, Muirhead set the all-time USPHL Premier record for shutouts with 11.

Majeske had a goal and two assists, while John, Cote and Jack Noonan all scored. Ashcroft chipped in two assists.

Chicago goalie Nick Gingold finished with 43 saves.

On Tuesday at home, the Jets Elite fell 2-1 in overtime to the Cougars.

Paulius Uzusienis won it for Chicago on a power play at 1:48 of extra time.

Lubbers’ goal at 14:30 of the third period tied the game 1-1 after Schroeder opened the scoring for the Cougars.

Cam Cyrus finished with 26 saves in goal for the Jets, while Andrew DiSilvestro stopped 34 for Chicago.

Wrapping up Tuesday at home, the MJDP blanked the Cougars 6-0 behind Carlone’s 21-save shutout.

Otero picked up a goal and two assists, Martin had a goal and assist and Max Rastello tallied three assists.

John Cirigliano, Chris Kobayashi, Avery Byron and Gianluca Virelli added goals and Clovis Gamelin racked up two assists.

Chicago goalie Cameron Boville stopped 32 shots.

Later this week, the Jets Elite hosts the Chicago Crush for a three-game set, going Thursday at 12:30 p.m., Friday at 11:30 a.m. and wrapping Saturday at 2 p.m.

The MJDP also plays the Crush at home, dropping the puck Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

The Jets play the Toledo Cherokee Friday at 6:30 p.m. from the Team Toledo Ice House in Toledo, Ohio.
