In the two games Saturday, Metro Jets and MJDP opponents managed just one goals over 120 minutes.

Opening the day, Caden Fisher stopped all 16 shots for the shutout as the MJDP blanked the Buffalo Thunder 5-0, just one day after dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to Buffalo.

“This win was big for us,” said Jets forward Kam Hellman. “We left one point on the table last night and today’s win was a big one.”

The boys started buzzing in the third, moving the puck and finding the back of the net,” Jets assistant coach Tina Ciraulo said. “Started to make the right decisions finding the lanes and driving the net. Fisher had some big saves for us and came out of it with the shutout.”

Hellman (pictured below) registered a goal and an assist, while Patrick Hays, Nick McDougall, Joey Mocnik and Seth Francois also scored. Jake Aslanian added two assists from the back end.

The MJDP outshot Buffalo 46-16.

Next up for the MJDP is a 2 p.m. game Tuesday against the Fort Wayne Spacemen.

In the second game Saturday, Jason Crossland’s hat trick led the Jets past the Wooster Oilers 12-1.

Braydin Lewis (pictured below), Alex Schaumburger, Joey Johnson and Alec Lindecker all had a goal and three assists to back Louis-Pierre Fortier’s 10 saves between the pipes.

“The boys were just doing the right things,” Ciraulo said. “We kept tilting the ice. We capitalized on Wooster’s breakdowns and never let up.”

Conner Graham chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Cristian Adragna, Nathan Vazquez, Joey Carpenter and Stefan Frantti scored once each.

Ryan Messing tacked on three assists and Justin Song, Nick Ceccarini and Will Jentz each had a pair of helpers.

The Jets outshot Wooster 37-11.

“We played a very good game,” said Fortier. “Never stopped moving the puck or moving our feet. Kept going north and kept scoring goals.”

In a major milestone, Jets game-day manager Paul Sheridan worked his 400th game for the team Saturday (pictured front). His first game was Oct. 11, 2005 when the Jets called Lakeland Arena home.

Metro next plays the Pittsburgh Vengeance for a pair next weekend, Jan. 30-31. Game times are 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
