MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – The Metro Jets and MJDP teams each picked up wins last weekend, with the Jets defeating the Columbus Mavericks Friday night at home and the MJDP team sweeping the Decatur Blaze on the road with a pair of shutouts.

At Mount Clemens Ice Arena, Chad Noetzel picked up two goals and an assist as the Jets took a 6-1 decision on home ice.

Rocco Stolz made 18 saves in goal and Robert Vanderdonck, Tyler Husted, and Andreas Fleutot all posted a goal and an assist.

“I felt good, got the legs going, and just did the right things, I guess,” Vanderdonck said.

Lucas Wiktorowski added a goal and Alex Schaumburger collected two assists in the win.

“We scored six goals and it’s been a while since we’ve been able to convert that many chances,” Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell said. “We got some good hockey goals, but we’ve still got to be better managing the puck, that’s for sure.”

Jadon Beard netted the lone Columbus goal and Brenden Cobb finished with 39 saves in goal.

At the Decatur Civic Center, the MJDP won 6-0 Saturday night and 2-0 Sunday afternoon.

Taylor White stopped all 14 shots Saturday and Austin Muirhead turned aside all 19 he faced on Sunday.

In the opener, Lukas Nies scored three goals while Jacques Lavrack, Nolan Salayko, and Max Rastello added single goals.

Chase Miller made 52 saves in goal for Decatur.

Wrapping up Sunday, Alek John and Robert Grasso scored and Lavrack assisted on both to get the sweep.

Daniel Kreiner registered 61 saves for the Blaze.

“The boys pulled off the two wins, which was good, but it’s going to be tough the next few weeks here if we can’t find a way to put the puck in the net,” Jets associate coach Tina Ciraulo said. “It took us more than half the game the first night to find the back of net. We found it five more times in the third, which was nice and fun to watch. We will get back to work this week and start focusing on the next game.”

This weekend, the Jets play a home-and-home with Columbus, starting Friday at the OhioHealth Chiller North at 8:30 p.m. and finishing Saturday at Mount Clemens at 4:30 p.m. The MJDP hosts the Chicago Crush for two games at Mount Clemens, opening Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and wrapping Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
