Jets sweep Columbus in home-and-home set, MJDP knocks off Motor City, Jets Elite falls in OT to Motor City

/MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – The Metro Jets continued their winning ways over the weekend, taking both ends of a home-and-home series with the Columbus Mavericks.

Friday night at the OhioHealth Chiller North, Alek John scored twice and Austin Muirhead made 32 saves in a 4-1 win.

Brycen Smith and AJ Zaccagni also scored for the Jets.

Thomas Eggleston netted the lone goal for Columbus and goalie Lukas Kamenicky finished with 51 saves.

Then back at Mount Clemens Ice Arena Saturday night, the Jets got the sweep after a 9-3 victory.

River Lewis went for a goal and three assists, Harry Dembowski scored twice, and Luka Pivec, Jack Noonan and Isaiah Winters each had a goal and two assists in the win to go along with a goal and an assist from Jaxon Stone.

Pierce Ashcroft and Smith also scored and Evan Cote added two assists.

In goal, Rostislav Efremov made 23 saves.

Caden Cavalieri had a goal and an assist for the Mavericks, while Cade Bohn and Graham Wood added goals and goaltenders Charlie Fuller and Robbie Cook combined to make 44 saves.

On Wednesday, Chris Otero’s hat trick lifted the MJDP past the Motor City Gamblers by a 4-2 count at Mount Clemens Ice Arena.

Raphael Belley-Pelletier also scored and added an assist while Evan Peacock made 24 saves in goal.

For the Gamblers, RJ Graziano and Braeden Goers scored and goaltender Luka Straser stopped 44 shots.

Thursday, the Metro Jets Elite squad fell 2-1 in overtime to Motor City, also at Mount Clemens Ice Arena.

Oliver Budd scored the Jets’ lone goal and Eliot Duerr finished with 31 saves between the pipes.

Isaac Bunk netted the OT winner for the Gamblers 2:57 into extra time.

Brandon Thomas also scored for Motor City and goalie Philip Tate stopped 32 shots.

This week, the Jets head to Nashville for a three-game series with the Red River Spartans, starting Friday at 7 p.m., then Saturday at 8 p.m. and wrapping Sunday at 12:15 p.m.

The MJDP team hosts the Decatur Blaze for three at Mount Clemens Ice Arena – Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 7:45 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

The Jets Elite squad also brings in Decatur for three at Mount Clemens Ice Arena – Friday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
