BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Both the MJDP and Metro Jets teams played on the road this weekend in Battle Creek with each squad picking up two points over the Battle Creek Kernels at The Rink Battle Creek.

Friday night, the Jets downed the Kernels 7-0 as Dylan Eliason (pictured front) stopped all 27 shots for his first junior hockey shutout.

Alex Schaumburger tallied two goals and an assist, while Josh German, Michael Lucia, and Joey Mocnik all posted a goal and an assist each.

“It was good to see the guys come out ready to start as soon as the puck was dropped,” said Jets associate coach Adam Morrison. “The early goal got us going and then we did a good job passing the puck around to create scoring opportunities. Always good to get a goalie’s first shutout of the season, and he did a pretty good job staying dialed in and not giving up rebounds throughout the game. Our ‘D’ also played really well doing a good job getting sticks on pucks.”

Jadon Barron and Chad Noetzel also scored and Andreas Fleutot and Dakota Kott chipped in two assists each.

For Battle Creek, Liam Connelly and Anders Smith combined on a 73-save effort.

Then Saturday night, the MJDP offense came out firing, defeating Battle Creek 13-0.

Robert Grasso went for two goals and three assists, Oka Forsberg notched a hat trick, and Nicco DeStefanis collected a goal and three assists.

Jacques Lavrack registered a goal and two helpers, Ethan Smith two goals, and Lukas Nies a goal plus two assists as Taylor White pitched the shutout making 36 saves.

Robert Vanderdonck tacked on four assists, Robert Poliski a pair of helpers, and Nolan Salayko (pictured below), Aidan Shannon, and Anthony Worley all added to the barrage with a goal and an assist apiece.

Smith, Harber Cassel, and Galvin Reagan turned aside 62 shots in the Kernels crease.

This weekend, the Jets play in Toledo Friday night at 7 p.m. against the Cherokee from the Team Toledo IceHouse, while the MJDP hosts the Decatur Blaze from Mount Clemens Ice Arena Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
