TOLEDO, Ohio – Six different players scored, and Brian Tallieu made 16 saves on his 21st birthday to lead the Metro Jets to a 7-1 win over the Toledo Cherokee Friday night at the Team Toledo IceHouse.

Anthony Cinato scored a pair, while Justin Song added a goal and two assists in the win.

“The guys collectively played well,” said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville. “Naturally, a couple breakdowns happened, and ‘Tally’ made the big save, but we managed the puck tonight and did a great job reloading offensively as units. It was fun to watch how all our guys were engaged and how they kept pressure throughout. The goal is to continue to play like we did tonight down the stretch.”

Jaylen Dziegelewski, Brandon Graham, Tyler German (pictured) and Jets captain Jeremy Schwartz also scored, and Nick Ceccarini chipped in with two assists.

“The biggest key to tonight’s win was just getting bodies in front of the net and getting the dirty hockey goals that win important games,” Ceccarini said. “We stayed away from all the fancy plays and kept it plain and simple. This weekend we had a one-game weekend, so we gave it all we had the whole game and left nothing in our tanks. We worked our butts off and earned the win the right way.”

Toledo captain Spencer Sandberg scored for the Cherokee and Mason Snyder made 49 saves in goal in suffering the defeat.

The Jets outshot Toledo 56-17.

Next up for the Jets are two home games next weekend at Fraser Hockeyland, starting on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against the Wooster Oilers for the team’s annual Heroes Game and wrapping Sunday at 12:45 p.m. against the Lansing Wolves.

The MJDP Team plays tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m. against the Detroit Fighting Irish at the Brownstown Sports Center.

All games will be streamed on www.HockeyTV.com.
