PITTSBURGH – The Metro Jets saw their 15-game winning streak snapped this afternoon in a 2-0 shutout to the Pittsburgh Vengeance at the Alpha Ice Complex.

Vengeance goaltender Charlie Olsson pitched a 27-save shutout in the penalty-free game.

“Credit to the Pittsburgh goalie for standing on his head, but when it comes down to it, we have nobody to blame but ourselves in a game like this,” said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville. “There were no penalties and we didn’t give up anything other than a bad-luck goal, so the boys have nobody to blame. If you don’t score, you don’t win.

“I’m proud of the 15-game run the guys put on the last two months, and it would have been nice to keep it going, but Pittsburgh did whatever it took to win this one, and regardless of the empty-netter at the end, it was a 0-0 game and the team to get the first bounce wins it, and they got it.

“I wish I was more disappointed about the loss, but we played much better today, had a ton of chances to score and ‘Freddy’ played great when we needed him. We just have to find a way to create our own luck in a game like this.”

Michael Hertzberg scored both goals for Pittsburgh.

Fredrik Meurling made 24 saves in goal for the Jets.

Back in Fraser, Josef Mehall scored twice and Anthony Carlier stopped all 25 shots as the Jets DP Team dominated the Motor City Hockey Club and took a 3-0 win Sunday afternoon at Fraser Hockeyland.

Shane Haggerty also scored, while Trevor Granzow (pictured) and Matt Bleim recorded two assists apiece.

The Jets next play Friday night in Wooster at 7:45 p.m. to start a home-and-home weekend series with Saturday’s game back at Fraser at 7:30 p.m., while the Jets DP Team plays two straight in Toledo Friday and Saturday with both games starting at 7 p.m.

Also on Saturday at Fraser, the Jets’ second annual alumni game will take place at 5 p.m.
