FRASER, Mich. – Cory Schwartz’s goal at 2:43 of overtime lifted the Metro Jets to a thrilling 3-2 win Saturday night over the Wooster Oilers at Fraser Hockeyland, sweeping the weekend home-and-home series.

The Jets led 2-1 until Donald Dickens scored an extra-attacker goal for Wooster at 19:29 of the third period.

“We brought it back out of the zone and set up a nice 2-on-1,” explained Schwartz. “Had a good chance off of it, went in the corner, created a turnover. ‘AC’ (Anthony Cinato) tried to dangle the goalie but couldn’t do much and I put it home for the winner.”

Brady Hanson and Justin Renzi scored in the second period for the Jets, while Hunter Hillebrecht also scored for the Oilers.

“Yesterday, we had a really good effort, on the road for that matter, and we wanted to go into today’s game with the same mindset,” said Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell. “We knew their goaltending was going to be good and he was. (Michael Hubbard) was really good and he kept them in the game. We let them hang around and couldn’t put one in the back of the net, but we earned the win, for sure.”

Hubbard finished with 37 saves, while Jets winning goalie Brian Tallieu (pictured) made 23 saves.

Cinato registered a pair of assists for the Jets.

In Toledo, Josef Mehall and Tanner Neill scored and Anthony Carlier finished with 25 saves, but the Metro Jets DP Team suffered a 3-2 loss and weekend sweep to the Toledo Cherokee at the Team Toledo IceHouse.

Both Jets teams now break for the holidays before returning to action Jan. 5-7 in Boston for the USPHL Winter Showcase.

Prior to the game in Fraser, the Jets staged their annual alumni game with Team White getting two late goals from game MVP Jake Gleason (2014-17) as part of his hat trick to push Team White to an 8-6 win over Team Red.
