WOOSTER, Ohio – The Metro Jets allowed a goal in the first minute of the game, but went on to score nine unanswered goals Friday night in a 9-1 rout over the Wooster Oilers at the Alice Noble Ice Arena.

Ryan Messing went for two goals and an assist, while Cristian Adragna added a goal and two assists and Anders Grongstad, Cody Mastay, Jason Crossland and Joey Johnson all posted a goal and a helper.

“Our offense was on all cylinders tonight, got pucks deep, and simply outworked them,” Messing said. “We bounced back from an early goal and never let up, which you love to see from the boys.”

“It was a dominating performance by the boys, and they played strong in all three zones,” added Jets associate coach Dan Pszenyczny. “Gave one up early but got it back quick and never looked back.”

Justin Song and Will Jentz (pictured front) also scored and Will Augustine needed to make just 14 saves as the Jets outshot Wooster 59-15.

The two teams meet again Saturday night as the Jets host Wooster at 4:30 p.m.

“Wooster isn’t going to rest easy tonight,” said Messing. “They are going to come out hard tomorrow. We have to come out like we did tonight and play with an edge.”

Also Friday night, the Buffalo Thunder defeated the MJDP 2-1 (pictured below) in overtime.

After the game was scoreless through 40 minutes, Tim Washburn netted the MJDP goal in the third period, but Owen Green won it 54 seconds into the extra session.

In goal, Daniel Miscavish made 22 saves in taking the defeat.

“To be honest, we didn’t deserve to win the hockey game,” said Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell. “We had a really good first period but after that, things just kind of fell apart. You can’t let a team hang around and we didn’t have any goals to show for it. We had a five-minute power play and a full two-minute 5-on-3 and if you don’t convert on those chances, you don’t deserve to win.”

The MJDP outshot Buffalo 44-24.

Both teams play again Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
