MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – For the fourth straight season, the Metro Jets hosted the USPHL Detroit Showcase, with the 2022 edition featuring 34 games over four days at Mount Clemens Ice Arena.

A total of 17 teams from the Great Lakes, Midwest East, Midwest West, and Mid-Atlantic divisions all took part in the event that ran Nov. 18-21 at the Jets’ home rink.

“We would like to thank all the volunteers, staff and our facility for all the help in making this event run so smooth and professionally,” Jets head coach and general manager Justin Quenneville said. “Along with all the Midwest teams, it was great to see new teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania this year. Overall, the feedback was great and many of the scouts complimented the competition and event itself, which makes it all worthwhile.”

Over 23 schools and 47 total scouts signed in attended the event, which was highlighted by consistent competition all weekend long.

On the ice, several teams were noticeable. the Toledo Cherokee went a perfect 4-0, while the Fort Wayne Spacemen, Isanti Outlaws and Jets all finished with a 3-1 mark.

“The Detroit Showcase really came off great,” said Jets owner and president Peter Cammick. “The result sets a high standard for the entire USPHL. This success is a result of very hard work by a large group of people, mostly behind the scenes, ensuring everything ran smoothly. From the planning and management handled by Justin Quenneville, to the announcers, special appearance by the Dan K Show, and the game operations staff, it was a total team effort. The on-ice action was just as impressive with some great matchups, exciting games, and, most importantly, great exposure for the players to the many college scouts in attendance.

“My bottom line – this was a great event, top to bottom.”

Off the ice, every game was broadcast with play-by-play and color analysts on HockeyTV, and each game had public address announcing and music.

All in all, the showcase is simply an event that brings out the best in the Jets organization.

“Every year, the Detroit Showcase is a premier event for the league and one that keeps getting bigger and better,” said Jets director of communications Matt Mackinder. “The amount of scouts and college coaches at the rink and waiting to talk to player after each game is truly what this event is all about. Junior hockey is a catalyst for player exposure and events like these showcases provide that and then some to these hard-working players.”

This weekend, the Jets will head on the road to the USPHL Chicago Showcase, which runs Dec. 15-18 at two rinks in the suburban Chicago area.
