Jets get boost with return of second-year blueliners Wolters, Aslanian

FRASER, Mich. – The Metro Jets blue line will have two more familiar faces back next season with the return of Parker Wolters and Jake Aslanian.

Both players were rookies last season, Wolters compiling five goals and 17 points in 49 games and Aslanian going for three goals and 16 points in 46 contests.

“We are excited to get back two young men who made tremendous strides last year with their development,” said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville. “They both played a lot of games and contributed tremendously. Parker really surprised us with his maturity and poise. He is a really good player away from the puck and makes strong decisions and plays all over the ice. Jake, on the other hand, was a big body that played physical all over the ice. He developed into a versatile player positionally and I think that will benefit fit him even more this year.”

“I enjoyed working with them every day and watching their development throughout the season,” added Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell. “They benefited from our program last year and I can only see that trend continue for them ahead. Both played up in their roles as the season progressed and were big pieces to the team’s success.”

Wolters, a 2001 birth year from Marysville, said deciding to come back to Fraser was “a pretty quick and easy decision.”

“Knowing how good our coaching staff is at developing players and keeping our team competitive every year made me want to return,” said Wolters. “The Jets are a winning organization with a great environment built on player development. And no matter who they lose or add to the team, they continue to put a very good team on the ice every year. They give you all the tools to succeed off the ice as well, and everyone wants to come in every day and try to get better.”

Looking to the season, Wolters wants to continue to contribute, just as he did in 2018-19.

“My personal goals are to just work on the little things and help my team win,” Wolters said. “As a team, we want to have another great season and give ourselves the best chance at winning a national championship.”

A 2000 birth year out of Trenton, Aslanian couldn’t wait to re-sign for another season with the Jets.

“My thought process of deciding to come back wasn’t much – I loved how the program was ran and the guys are all great along with the coaches,” Aslanian said. “And just all the success we have had made me really want to come back to the boys. The program has always been successful at moving kids to the next level and making them better each day so we can achieve what we want at the end.”

Aslanian has future aspirations similar to Wolters.

“For the team, I want us to have a great season and make it to nationals and just be successful,” said Aslanian. “As for myself, I would like to continue gaining skill as a player to help myself and the team out in any way possible.”
