FRASER, Mich. – Jaylen Dziegelewski posted four points and Anthony Cinato scored twice to lift the Metro Jets over the Lansing Wolves 6-3 Saturday night at Fraser Hockeyland.
With the win, the Jets clinch first overall and the regular-season championship in the USPHL Premier Division.
“We’re glad that we finished first in the league, but the work’s not over,” said Jets captain Jeremy Schwartz. “We’ve got playoffs coming up and we’ve got to keep playing strong.”
Dziegelewski recorded a goal and three points, while Cinato added two goals and an assist to back Fredrik Meurling’s 21 saves in goal.
Jhuwon Davis and Tyler German each had a goal and an assist and Cory Schwartz also scored.
Christian Rawling contributed a pair of assists for the Jets.
“Tonight was a chippy affair,” Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell said. “They are a possible first-round opponent for us (in the playoffs) and they were trying to send a message. I think we did a good job sending that message right back. We outshot them like we wanted to and dictated most of the play. We stuck up for each other and that’s what we need to do.
“We’re not going to get pushed around and if we play them in the first round, we’ll be ready.”
Brendan Smith tallied a goal and an assist for the Wolves. Noah Pipper also scored, and Sean Finstrom finished with 40 saves between the pipes.
The two teams wrap up the regular season Sunday at 3:30 p.m. from The Summit Sports and Ice Complex in Dimondale.
