FRASER, Mich. – The Metro Jets MJDP Team is moving on in the USPHL postseason.

With a thrilling 3-2 win over the Wooster Oilers Tuesday night at Fraser Hockeyland in a play-in game, the MJDP Team will now play the Pittsburgh Vengeance in the next round of the Great Lakes Division playoffs.

Will Augustine (pictured) made 29 saves in goal, while Kyle McCauley, Zack Kippe and Nick McDougall scored for the Jets.

“I thought we played really well,” said Augustine. “We were really strong in the corners and got after it. We went down early, but we stayed with them and got back on them and put up a ‘W.’”

Trevor Stokes opened the scoring for Wooster just 4:10 into the first period before McCauley evened the game on a Jets power play 15:49 into the second period.

Kippe made it 2-1 at the 4:37 mark of the third period and McDougall tallied at 8:28.

Donald Dickens scored for the Oilers at 16:24 of the third period to finish out the scoring.

“I’m really happy, very proud of these guys,” said Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell. “They deserved to be in this situation. Nobody wanted to play this game and we thought we earned third place in this division, but it is what it is. All we had to do was win a hockey game and that was the message we sent to these guys, and that’s what they did.”

Michael Hubbard turned aside 22 shots in the Wooster crease.

The MJDP Team will play in Pittsburgh Saturday night and Sunday afternoon (game times TBA) and if a deciding Game 3 is needed, the MJDP will host on Monday at Fraser Hockeyland (game time TBA).

All games will be streamed on www.HockeyTV.com.
