FRASER, Mich. – Justin Renzi’s second goal of the game 35 seconds into overtime lifted the Metro Jets to a 4-3 win over the Lansing Wolves Sunday afternoon at Fraser Hockeyland.

The game was 1-1 after one period, 2-2 through 40 minutes and then 3-3 at the end of regulation.

“We were in the defensive zone staying on our guys playing defense and when we did that, the puck came to us,” said Renzi. “We had offensive time and I kind of just skated the puck up. (Justin) Song drove wide and got two guys to come to him. That gave me a lane to go right to the net and the goalie (Jeremy Skaife) gave me some space on the right side and that’s where I put it.”

Renzi also scored on the power play at 9:25 of the first period.

Song added a goal at 11:21 of the second period before Anthony Cinato gave the Jets a short-lived 3-2 lead at 4:20 of the third period.

Ryan Weaver tied the game for Lansing at 5:06 of the third period.

Justin Sill opened the scoring just 1:19 into the first period and Brendan Smith also scored at 9:40 of the middle period.

Jets goalie Fredrik Meurling finished with 23 saves, while Skaife turned aside 38 for the Wolves.

The Jets next play a home-and-home series with the Toledo Cherokee starting Friday night in Toledo at 7 p.m. and wrapping up Saturday night at Fraser Hockeyland at 7:30 p.m.

The MJDP Team hosts the Detroit Fighting Irish at home this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and then travels to Lansing Saturday night for a game at 7:30 p.m.

All games will be broadcast on www.HockeyTV.com.
