FRASER, Mich. – Coming off a bronze medal win at an international tournament in China, the Metro Jets ventured to Illinois last week to play in the USPHL Chicago Showcase.

Overall, the two Jets teams went 5-2-1 against high-caliber, out-of-division teams and were part of the Great Lakes Conference that finished with the top overall division mark at the event with a 19-4-1 record.

“We are happy our division showed well and the competition the Jets saw was top notch,” said Metro coach-GM Justin Quenneville. “Overall, it was a great event and lots of attention for our guys. We look forward to another tough event next month out east for the IHC Showcase, which we know will be filled with scouts.”

Among the teams the Jets played in Chicago were the Charlotte Rush (best USPHL record in ’17-18), Hampton Roads Whalers (USPHL Premier champions in ’17-18), Minnesota Moose (division champs in ’17-18) and the Chicago Cougars (division champs in ’17-18).

The Lansing Wolves and Pittsburgh Vengeance fashioned perfect 4-0-0 marks in Chicago, followed by the Jets (2-1-1), MJDP (3-1-0), Toledo Cherokee (3-1-0) and Wooster Oilers (3-1-0).

Coming in second with an overall mark of 18-5-1 was the Southeast Conference.

The Jets next play in Lansing on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and then host the Oilers back at Fraser Hockeyland on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

The MJDP plays two on the road in Pittsburgh, starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night and then concluding at 11:40 a.m. Sunday afternoon.
