FRASER, Mich. – The Metro Jets completed an historical season Saturday night with a 5-2 win over the Wooster Oilers at Fraser Hockeyland in front of a team-record 1,138 fans on Heroes Night.

With the win, the Jets finish the NA3HL regular season 47-0 – and that includes 47 wins in regulation time.

No overtime.

No shootouts.

“I don’t know if it’s sunk in yet, but we obviously knew what was at stake tonight,” said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville. “This is incredible, unbelievable. We had such a great season last year with only three regulation losses, but this year, the guys just had a clear focus from the start. It’s been a team effort top to bottom from on the ice, off the ice and the volunteers and finishing off at home like this is even more special.

“We’ll enjoy this for the next couple days and get back to work and ready for playoffs.”

Saturday night, Connor Inger posted two goals and an assist, while Hayden Winch, Jason Newel and Robby Flannery also scored.

Mathias Tellstrom contributed two assists and goalies Jake Gwillim and Brian Tallieu combined to make 18 saves.

For the Oilers, Nick Stanko and Nick Mooney scored and Michael Hubbard finished with 41 saves in goal.

The Jets finish first overall in the NA3HL and now move on to play the West Michigan Wolves in the first round of the East Division playoffs starting Friday in Battle Creek for Game 1. Fraser Hockeyland will host Game 2 Saturday night at 7 p.m. and Game 3 (if needed) on Sunday at 12:15 p.m.
