ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Connor Inger figured on all four Metro Jets goals as the Jets defeated the La Crosse Freeze 4-1 Tuesday night to open the Fraser Cup National Tournament Pool B round robin at Canlan Ice Sports.

Inger tallied a goal and three assists, while Andrew Kormos was sharp in stopping 15 of 16 shots in goal.

"We're happy we took care of business on Day 1," said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville. "This is a long week and we need to take one day at a time. I felt like we did a good job with maintaining offensive pressure. We got better as the game went on. Everyone contributed today and Kormos made the big saves when we needed it. With all the penalties, it was important we won the special teams battle."

Trevor Momot opened the scoring on a second-period Jets power play before La Crosse answered with a power-play goal of its own from Clayton Lackey. Anger and Matt Schaumburger scored later in the second and Anthony Cinato made it 4-1 with a goal in the first minute of the third period.

William Graves made 34 saves in goal for La Crosse.

"It's great to start off the week win a win," Kormos said. "It really helps set the tone for the weekend and keeps us from playing catch up the next two games."

"Tomorrow, we will just refocus and prepare to play our game the same way we have all year."

The Jets continue round robin play Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. Eastern against the New England Stars.
