FRASER, Mich. – In a rare Sunday night game, the MJDP defeated the Motor City Hockey Club 5-1 at Fraser Hockeyland on the strength of two-point games from Mitchell Hoon, Patrick Hays and Brennan Zatelli, who each posted a goal and an assist.

In goal, Michael Paul finished with 16 saves.

“We played well, controlled the play from start to finish,” said Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell. “I thought our guys did a good job staying composed and not getting frustrated despite being so dominant in the offensive zone but only having one goal to show for it after one period and only up 2-1 after the second.

“Michael made a couple key saves when we needed them, and we finally broke through.”

Mitch Forton and Garrett Benoit also scored in the win as the MJDP outshot Motor City 53-17.

The two teams meet again Friday at Jack Adams Arena in Detroit. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m.

“We will have a good week of practice ahead of us to prepare for these guys again Friday,” Lovell said. “We need to keep working on converting more chances offensively and not let teams hang around.”

All games this season will be streamed on www.HockeyTV.com.
