MJDP beats Nighthawks, Jets dropped in OT by Aviators in Saturday showcase action

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Day 2 of the USPHL Winter Showcase continued Saturday at the New England Sports Center as the Metro Jets and MJDP each played one game apiece.

The MJDP defeated the Connecticut Nighthawks 7-3 before the Jets fell 5-4 in overtime to the New York Aviators.

Nick McDougall paced the MJDP offense with a hat trick, Bradley Scott scored twice, and Brennan Zatelli contributed a goal and two helpers.

Patrick Hays also scored, Brayden Tayles added four assists, and Garrick Smith, Jake Aslanian and Nick Beeman chipped in two assists apiece.

In goal, Ethan Ryan finished with 15 saves.

For the Jets, Matt Bleim, Brady Hanson, Matt Cruz and Justin Song scored and Machus Turner stopped 21 shots between the pipes.

Both teams wrap up the showcase Sunday as the MJDP plays the Potomac Patriots at 12:20 p.m. and the Jets take on the Northern Cyclones at 3 p.m.
