FRASER, Mich. – An eight-goal second period propelled the Metro Jets to a 12-1 win over the Toledo Cherokee Wednesday night at Fraser Hockeyland.

Matt Bleim led the offense for the Jets with a hat trick, Cam Conover added two goals and two assists and Metro captain Brodie Thornton posted four assists in the win.

Jets goalie Machus Turner made 23 saves and also contributed three assists.

“It was fun to watch,” said Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell. “Our guys were snapping the puck around and when we play like that, we can do that to any team.”

Jesper Svadang and Conner Graham added a goal and two assists each and Josh German, Justin Renzi and Nick Ceccarini registered two assists apiece.

Bleim said his three goals were the result of hard work from his linemates.

“Sometimes, you just get lucky,” said Bleim. “I was just in the right place at the right time and those guys did a good job getting me those pucks. I’ve been working on finishing and tonight, it just worked out in my favor.”

Anthony Cinato went for a goal and an assist, while Brandon Bradley, Zach Rais, Nolan Turi and Alec Lindecker also scored in the rout.

Toledo captain Anthony Weinrich netted the lone goal for the Cherokee in the first minute of the second period and Chad Simmerman and Mason Snyder combined to stop 44 shots in the loss.

The Jets next host the Columbus Mavericks at Fraser Hockeyland Saturday at 4 p.m. to start the first half of the home-and-home series. The two teams wrap up Sunday at 3:45 p.m. down in Columbus.

All games will be streamed on www.HockeyTV.com with live updates available on the USPHL app.
