FRASER, Mich. – Brennan Zatelli plays bigger than his 5-foot-9, 140-pound frame.

As the leading scorer for the Metro Jets’ MJDP team this season, the 2001 birth year forward out of Clinton Township not only feels at home due to the proximity of Fraser Hockeyland to his hometown, but also because he played at the rink last season for the Big Boy 18U AA team.

“I wound up signing with the Jets after I aged out of travel hockey,” said Zatelli, a talented forward. “I played on the Jr. Jets travel team when they first came to Fraser. Ever since then, it was my goal to play for the junior team.”

Jets associate head coach Jamie Lovell loves what Zatelli brings to the table this season.

“’Z’ has been a pleasant surprise this season,” Lovell said. “He’s shifty with the puck and although he’s a smaller player, he does a great job along the walls and in the corners in the offensive zone protecting pucks and making smart plays to create offense.

“Even though right now he’s sidelined with an injury, ‘Z’ has taken full advantage of what we offer here to help him develop into a better hockey player, and we expect that to continue when he gets healthy enough to get back on the ice and in the gym.”

This season, Zatelli has posted four goals and nine points over 14 games.

Above that, he said it’s a thrill to come to the rink on a daily basis.

“The Metro Jets have a great facility with an amazing staff,” Zatelli said. “All the players work hard every day to increase their skills and to get the chance to skate and work alongside them is truly an honor.”

“I feel like I bring hard work and positive energy to the team.”

On and off the ice, Zatelli is immersing himself in what it means to be a Jet this season.

“My short-term goal is to increase my skill and to get as much exposure as possible,” said Zatelli. “For my long-term goals, I would love to get recognized by colleges and possibly get offers to continue playing hockey.”
