DIMONDALE, Mich. – Continuing to score at a torrid pace, the Metro Jets downed the Lansing Wolves 10-2 Friday night at The Summit Sports and Ice Complex in suburban Lansing.

Jets captain Brodie Thornton led the offense with two goals and two assists, while Garrett Johnson and Anthony Cinato (pictured) each tallied a goal and two assists.

Will Augustine stopped 15 shots for the win in goal.

“We got off to a good start, dictated the pace of the game, popped a few goals in early,” Jets assistant coach Dan Pszenyczny said. “The boys moved the puck around well, took advantage of opportunities all over the ice, and played three good periods of hockey.”

Brady Hanson and Justin Song chipped in a goal and an assist each and Nolan Turi, Trevor Granzow, Alec Lindecker and Matt Bleim scored one apiece.

Matt Cruz, Conner Graham, Nick Ceccarini and Jesper Svadang all tacked on two assists.

“Tonight’s game just went our way for the most part,” Thornton said. “From pucks bouncing our way to little ticks going to players sticks. It wasn’t the prettiest game at the end. As a team, we’re going to come together and get our mindset right for tomorrow night.”

For Lansing, John Labombard and Kyler Smith scored and Andrew Kelly and Kurt Yano combined to make 35 saves in net.

The two teams play again Saturday night back at The Summit at 7:30 p.m.

In other action Friday night, the MJDP team knocked off the Fort Wayne Spacemen 2-1 from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.

Anders Florek and Bradley Scott scored, and Michael Paul was solid in goal, turning aside 34 shots to get the win.

“The guys dug this one out as a group,” Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville said. “We did a great job dictating the play in the first but when we got put on our heels in the second, Michael Paul did a great job bailing us out. I thought the third was our strongest because we committed to playing the right way. We got a big power-play goal (Scott), we made strong plays and managed the puck really well. Even though we felt shafted on a few chances offensively, our guys committed to playing hard away from the puck and smothered them all over the ice.

“A great team effort tonight and hopefully we continue to build off it.”

Kevin Lapointe notched Fort Wayne’s goal and Michael Heward stopped 36 shots between the pipes.

The MJDP hosts the Spacemen next Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. back at Fraser Hockeyland to complete the delayed home-and-home series.
