FRASER, Mich. – It’s only mid-October, but the Metro Jets are already advancing players like they have done in past years.

Second-year forward Tyler German has been called up to the NAHL’s Jamestown Rebels and left Monday for New York.

“Playing for the Jets helped with this in every way possible,” said German, a 2000 birth year from Canton. “From the guys around you to the coaching staff preparing us day in and day out, the organization prepares us to be the best we can be.

“I’m not sure what to expect in Jamestown, but I’m excited to get started and for the opportunity.”

This season, German has registered five goals and 13 points in 11 games after going for 12 goals and 22 points over 41 games as a rookie in 2018-19.

“Tyler had a big second half last season and garnered a lot of attention,” Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville said. “He made the choice this summer to invest in himself and he put in the work in the offseason skating and training with us at the M.A.T. He turned down some Tier II options to come back here and that was a wise choice because he continued to develop. Now, he is ready to make the jump and we are lucky to have so many relationships in the NAHL and NCDC for our players.

“It also helps that our assistant coach Dan Pszenyczny works with the Rebels and I’ve known (Jamestown head coach) Joe Coombs since I was in the NAHL and he was in the USHL. They run a top-notch program there and we wish Tyler the best of luck.”

This weekend, the Jets travel to Columbus Saturday night before coming home to play Toledo on Sunday at 5 p.m. from Fraser Hockeyland. The MJDP team plays a pair in Dyer, Ind., Friday and Saturday against the Midwest Blackbirds.

All Jets games are streamed on www.HockeyTV.com with live updates available on the USPHL app.
