Offense comes alive as Jets take 8-2 road win over Southern Tier Friday evening

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Metro Jets used two goals each from Joey Bruce, Mathieu LaForest and Connor Inger to down the Southern Tier Xpress 8-2 Friday night at Jamestown Savings Bank Arena.

Brian Tallieu made 29 saves for the win in goal and Jeremy Schwartz recorded his first three points of the season with a goal and two assists.

“Hard to complain about an 8-2 road win, but I definitely feel like we got away with too much tonight,” said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville. “We weren’t a disciplined team within our system tonight and it cost us several breakdowns and penalties. I know both teams will be sharper tomorrow and ready to go. Overall, we need more consistency for 60 minutes tomorrow.”

Kyle Gierman added a goal and an assist, while Jhuwon Davis, Anthony Cinato, Trevor Momot (pictured) and Rhett Limback each posted two assists.

“I think the key tonight was mostly keeping our speed up on them and being aggressive every time we’re on the ice,” said Schwartz. “What went well the most was getting to the net on those rebounds and burying them.

“It truly does feel great finally burying a goal, but at the end of the first period, my mentor, Jacob Stawinski, gave me some pointers on their strategies in their zone, so I took that to my advantage and buried one on a rebound that was given to me and throughout that game, I wanted to work hard for a point or a goal and I’m glad I got both.”

Southern Tier goalie Ryan Pascarella finished with 53 saves in the loss.

The two teams play again Saturday at 5 p.m.
