Jets players celebrate Thanksgiving, reflect on what makes them thankful

FRASER, Mich. – With the Thanksgiving holiday here, the Metro Jets players were asked what they give thanks for during this special time of the year.

Defenseman Nick Foran: “I’m thankful for the opportunity to play hockey and I’m thankful to be a part of the Jets.”

Defenseman George Hansen: “Thankful for my parents that support me and back me with whatever I do and thankful to be able to play hockey and to play with the best group of guys, too.”

Forward Louis Boudon: “Thankful for all my billet family does for me and thankful for the coaches and teammates.”

Forward Jake Gleason: “I’m thankful for my family my teammates and most importantly, I’m thankful that I have Cameron James Schwartz.”

Goaltender Jake Gwillim: “I’m thankful obviously for my family and how they gave me this opportunity to play such a great game and sacrificing their time so I could achieve my goals and dreams. I’m also thankful for the whole Jets organization for welcoming me in with open arms twice – once last season after coming back from Johnstown and then this season after my surgery. They have given me every opportunity and resource to further myself as a player and person.”

Defenseman Mark Vansaw, Jr.: “I am very thankful for my family and everything they do. Also to my Jets family because who doesn’t love the Jets?”

Goaltender Nick Barrett: “I’m thankful for the friends and family that love and support me everyday. I’m also thankful for the opportunities and privileges I get in life, as well as the greatest teammates that I have ever had.”

Forward and team captain Graham Day: “I’m thankful for the opportunity playing for the Jets has given me and also for being on a team full of great guys.”

Goaltender Brian Tallieu: “I am thankful for my goalie partners Andrew Kormos, Jake Gwillim, and Nick Barrett, thankful for my veteran Jason Recchia, and also thankful for my family for taking me to the rink early in the mornings and late at nights.”

Defenseman Robby Flannery: “I’m thankful for the boys, I’m glad I get to show up to the rink every morning and get to hang out with them, especially Cam Schwartz. He’s a great guy.”

Forward Kristian Alafriz: “I’m thankful to be a part of the Metro Jets. It’s a great organization – the front office, game day operations, the coaching staff, the players, and all of the fans that support us each week. I’m grateful for the team having such great success thus far and I’m excited to see how far we’ll go.”

Defenseman and alternate captain Dylan Naumovski: “I’m grateful for the guys, the amazing coaching staff we have, my family and friends and most of all, Randy Wilson.”

Forward Griffin Sawyer: “I’m thankful for the opportunity to play the game I love, everyday. I’m thankful for my friends and family’s support for me to chase my dream. I’m thankful for the men and women fighting overseas protecting our country’s freedom.”

Defenseman and alternate captain Jason Recchia: “I’m thankful for being able to see all my teammates, except Cam Schwartz, everyday.”

Defenseman Trevor Momot: “I’m thankful for the boys on the Metro squad, my family, and thankful for living each day in a free country. I’m thankful for everything and everyone that has been in my life – they have a huge influence on me.”

Forward Chase Sereno: “I’m thankful for having such an amazing family and friends and also thankful to have such great teammates.”

Forward Jake Stawinski: “I’m thankful for the boys and the coaching staff. They make coming to the rink everyday a great time. I’m also thankful for my wonderful family and also Cam Schwartz. Just a great guy.”

Defenseman and alternate captain Marc Schwartz: “I am thankful for the great game of hockey and to be a part of the Jets.”

Forward Cam Schwartz: “I’m thankful for my teammates and coaching staff, and especially for Gleason and Recchia. Those two always find a way to make me laugh even though they hate me.”

Forward Chas Distelrath: “Thankful for my family and the boys on the team.”

Goaltender Andrew Kormos: “I’m thankful for my great teammates and coaches, and especially my family for doing so much for me.”

Forward Evan Newel: “I’m thankful for my friends and family. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Also, I’m thankful for having a good group of guys that I get to see every day.”

Defenseman Collin Gamrat: “I am thankful for my family and friends and everything they do for me and I am thankful for the opportunity to play on the Jets with a great bunch of kids.”

The Jets are off this coming weekend before playing the Wooster Oilers in a home-and-home series starting Friday, Dec. 2 in Wooster and concluding the following evening in Fraser.
