Jets open NA3HL Showcase with Friday afternoon win over Breezy Point

BLAINE, Minn. – Louis Boudon figured in on all three goals for the Metro Jets Friday afternoon at the NA3HL Showcase at the Schwan Super Rink and the Jets downed the Breezy Point North Stars 3-1.

Breezy Point jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 3:27 into the first on a goal by Nick Blanchette before Metro rallied for the next three.

“Our guys got outworked in the first 10 minutes and it showed when they scored that lucky goal off the half wall that actually got our guys going,” said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville. “I knew the bus legs would play a factor early, but once we settled, we pushed the pace.

“Overall, Louis played a huge game and naturally, Andrew (Kormos) was huge when we needed him. With all the penalties this morning, Kormos stood tall to keep the lead. We are happy we won this morning and now we will get ready for another big game tomorrow against North Iowa.”

Kormos finished with 26 saves in goal, Boudon had two goals and an assist, Stefan Boskovic a goal and an assist and Nick Foran a pair of assists for the Jets.

“It’s a great atmosphere here,” Kormos said. “Everyone on the team is really excited for our opportunities this weekend and we are trying to make the most of them. I think the biggest key today was refocusing after our slow start. We knew we were going to be in a good game and after the first period, we really responded.”

North Stars goalie Bronson Moore made 30 saves in suffering the defeat.

The Jets will play the North Iowa Bulls (in a rematch of the 2016 Silver Cup National Championship final) tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. EDT and then close with the Texas Jr. Brahmas Sunday at 4:20 p.m.

All games in Blaine will be streamed on
