FRASER, Mich. – Connor Inger and Robby Flannery (pictured) each posted hat tricks to lead the Metro Jets to a 9-1 win over the Southern Tier Xpress Saturday night at Fraser Hockeyland.
Inger added an assist for a four-point game, while his first goal was scored on a penalty shot early in the second period.
The Jets’ offense ramped into high gear following a 2-1 loss Friday night in Lansing.
“It’s strange how it works sometimes,” Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville said. “We scored 10 goals over the weekend and nine were in tonight’s game. It’s a little frustrating, but we responded well. The guys didn’t play as poorly as maybe I stated last night, but that was more about not capitalizing on our chances, and the guys did that tonight.
“We’ll take the two points and get ready for Wednesday.”
Jets goalie Brian Tallieu made 20 saves for the win in goal, with his only blemish a Tristan Mock goal in the final minute of the second period.
Dante Trapiss, Brandon Graham and Jeremy Schwartz also scored in the win, Kyle Gierman chipped in with three assists and Trevor Momot added two assists.
Southern Tier goalie Brandon Heacock made 51 saves in the loss.
The Jets next play Wednesday night at home against the Toledo Cherokee. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed on www.hockeytv.com.
“Obviously, Toledo is going to want to come in here and stifle us,” said Quenneville. “We’ll make sure to get ready for that. In the end, we want to make sure we bounce back with the same effort we showed tonight for the full 60 minutes.”
