Midland University Press Release
Fremont, Neb. – The Midland University men's hockey team continued to expand its inaugural recruiting class with the addition of Brad Hepler on Thursday.
The defenseman will be a part of the Warriors' first season on the ice in 2014-15.
"Having Brad join Midland will really help boost our defensive line," said Midland head coach Jason Cirone. "Additionally, he is an offensive threat every time he's on the ice. Being able to bring in an All-State defensive player and someone I've had the pleasure of coaching for two years in the past is something I think all coaches would be excited about."
Hepler, a native of Chelsea, Mich., attended Chelsea High School and made two Final Four appearances with the Bulldogs hockey team. He also played under the direction of Cirone for the Metro Jets of the NA3HL.
Hepler led both his high school and junior teams in scoring. He was named All-State at Chelsea and to the All-Prospects team while playing junior hockey.
Last year, Hepler registered 11 goals and 25 assists.
Hepler will be joined on the ice at Midland by his former high school teammate, Kyle Whipple, who signed to play with the Warriors in March.
Brad was joined by his parents, Dave and Donna Hepler, at the signing Thursday and intends to be a criminal justice major at Midland.
"I decided to attend Midland because I really liked the campus and I was excited to be a part of the Warriors' first-year hockey program," said Hepler.
