Friday night action sees Metro spread out the offense, defeat Wooster on the road

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Metro Jets led from start to finish and defeated the Wooster Oilers 7-1 Friday night at the Alice Noble Ice Arena.

The Metro forward line of Jhuwon Davis, Jeremy Schwartz and Anthony Cinato each scored a goal and Brian Tallieu made 23 saves between the pipes.

“We were a little sloppy with the puck at times tonight, but once we started moving it and supporting each other more effectively, then we were able to create some offense,” Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville said. “’Tally’ made a couple key saves in the second and I thought Schwartz, AC and Jhuwon played well tonight as a unit.

“We will take the two points and focus on getting ready for Lansing tomorrow night.”

Matt Schaumburger added a pair of goals for the Jets, while Trevor Momot and Joey Bruce also scored.

Mathieu LaForest (pictured) chipped in with two assists and Davis posted two assists for a three-point game.

“I feel like our line has a lot of chemistry as of late,” said Cinato. “We like to control the puck and take advantage of our opportunities down low and right now, it’s been very successful for us.”

For Wooster, Jeffrey Dawson broke Tallieu’s shutout bid with 4:58 left in the third period.

Oilers goalies Michael Hubbard and Justyn Gillis combined to make 32 saves.

The Jets now come home to play the Lansing Wolves Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. from Fraser Hockeyland.

“I feel like it’s a pretty easy transition to refocus on tomorrow,” Cinato said. “We have been doing it all year and if we keep playing Metro hockey, we should get the outcome we want.”
