Flannery’s five-point performance lifts Jets past Toledo Friday night on the road

TOLEDO – Robby Flannery figured in on all five Metro Jets goals Friday night as the Jets defeated the Toledo Cherokee 5-3 at the Team Toledo Ice House.

Flannery scored three goals and assisted on the other two from Anthony Cinato and Rhett Limback.

“Things just seemed to go my way tonight, I guess,” said Flannery (pictured). “Big shout out to (Connor) Inger for passing on my last goal. I really felt like (former Jets forward Jake) Gleason rubbed off on me. He always seemed to really show up when we played Toledo.”

Jets goalie Jacob McClelland finished with 17 saves for the win, while Ricardo Gonzalez made 54 stops for Toledo.

Metro led 2-1 after 20 minutes and the game was knotted 2-all after two periods before the Jets found the net three times in the third.

“Conditioning is a huge part of that,” Flannery said. “Up in the gym and after practice, every guy puts in extra work and it’s paying off big time at the end of games.”

The Jets are off the rest of the weekend, but will regroup to travel to Lansing next Friday night and then next Saturday at home for the annual “Pink In The Rink” game at Fraser Hockeyland.

“I think we’ll do what we usually do, which is take it one game at a time,” Flannery said. “I think everyone will be excited for the ‘Pink In The Rink’ game, but we can’t look past Lansing.”

Both games next weekend will be streamed on www.hockeytv.com.
