Atlanta edges Metro on second day of NA3HL Silver Cup round-robin play

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Metro Jets outshot the Atlanta Capitals 41-17, but suffered a 3-2 defeat Thursday evening to the Atlanta Capitals in the second game of the NA3HL Silver Cup National Championship round robin at Canlan Ice Sports.

Atlanta goalie Nolan Bivolcic made 39 saves in the win.

“Unfortunate that we couldn’t solve their goalie,” said Jets coach-GM Justin Quenneville. “When you get that many chances and you outshoot a team so significantly, you just have to be accountable offensively. There’s no excuse for us to be on the wrong side of the scoreboard with the sustained pressure we put on them. Somehow, they found a way to score three on us, so we will look at how to eliminate any breakdown moving forward. Tomorrow’s game is that much more important now and we will regroup accordingly.”

Chase Sereno and Chas Distelrath (pictured) scored for Metro and Jake Gwillim stopped 14 shots between the pipes. The Jets pulled Gwillim in the final minute of the third period, but could not find the equalizer.

Sascha Figi potted a pair of goals for Atlanta.

The Jets continue round-robin play Friday against the St. Louis Jr. Blues at 4 p.m. CDT.
